Congratulations to the new
Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr.
Alfred Adewale Martins, as he is installed today as the 4th Archbishop of Lagos
Metropolitan See today at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos. AD MULTOS ANNOS!
It would be recalled that Catholic Pontiff, Pope
Benedict XIV, officially appointed Bishop Alfred Adewale Martins to take over
his Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okogie as the new Archbishop of Lagos,
Nigeria.
Okogie who is also officially retiring today had
been in charge of affairs in the Lagos Diocese, which has an incredble
population of 5,421,000. Out of that figure, 2,488,000 are Catholics, 278
priests and 432 religious.
